Reports to: Product Development Engineer Hunting-ATV-Camping

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the execution of portions of new product development as well as the improved documentation of existing products. The purpose of the position is to be responsible for clear and concise product documentation which includes but is not limited to the creation of 3D models, drafting 2D engineering drawings, documenting bills of materials within our ERP system, assisting with creation of quality plans and detailed/clear communication with Asian suppliers. Key abilities include working closely with Engineers and related team members to understand project scope, goals for new product development and customer or market needs as well as high levels of communication skills with management and suppliers.

Job Duties:

  • Create 3D models and 2D drawings using Solid Works software
  • Create and update bills of materials (BOMs) for new and existing products
  • Reverse engineer existing products in order to properly document their designs
  • Assist in conducting testing and verify functionality of new designs or design improvements
  • Support concept/design exercises and construct prototypes with related team members
  • Execute sample part production with 3D printer
  • Effectively communicate project status updates to management
  • Assist quality team in root cause analysis and finding solutions to correct them
  • Routinely fill out Activity Lists and documents all assigned Work Packages
  • Potentially travel to Asian suppliers to develop new products, build relationships, support production and meet shipping schedule when needed

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proficient in the use of Solid Works or other computer-aided design software applications
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload from multiple projects
  • Detail oriented and strong time management and organization skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Hard work ethic and the ability to take on responsibility
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on experience and understanding of metal products and manufacturing methods (bending, stamping, welding, etc.)
  • 3D printing, waterjet, plasma cutting experience
  • Basic understanding of costing and sourcing
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint)


  • 2+ years of consumer product design experience is preferred
  • 2+ years of 3D modeling, 2D drawing experience
  • Experience and passion for the outdoors such as hunting, ATV riding and camping is a plus

Education: Two year degree in CAD or similar.
