Director of Brand Management – Lawn & Garden

The Director of Brand Management is responsible for creating and managing the assigned product portfolio, brand vision, strategic direction, and collaborating with Product Development to build highly competitive product offerings, and delivering financial returns. The role will be responsible for the company’s Lawn and Garden brands and complete product lifecycle: market development, commercialization, implementation, and support. This role requires strong collaboration with cross-functional partners and strong business analysis skills.
Key growth metrics include: sales, net revenue, gross margin and market share.
-Ownership and accountability for the Earthquake, Castle, and Yardbird product lines and to provide both vision and strategic execution. Achieves the volume, revenue, gross margin, and market share objectives.
-Creates product strategy for assigned product line, using inputs from NPD, consumer insights, sales history & market research.
-Develops a brand directive for each brand that defines the brand vision/strategy, brand standards, and the marketing communications strategy.
-Responsible for the compilation of an annual line plan for category including, pricing, margin, SKU assortment, advertising, merchandising and promotional budget.
-Works with the marketing communications team to create a brand standard and to create an advertising strategy for each individual brand. Creates and manages the advertising budget for the category.
-Responsible for strategic forecasting of revenue and margin percentages by category to deliver gross margin dollars in excess of budget.
-Performs research to benchmark best practices, pricing and understand consumer marketing dynamics to effectively target the consumers/customers.
-Works with cross functional teams and R & D Teams to drive innovation and new product development through market research, insights, and ideation.
-Works with the sales team to set distribution channel strategy and identification of opportunities to attack new channels.
-Responsible for setting product pricing strategies to grow revenue and maximize profitability. Makes tactical pricing decisions to minimize conflicts between channels and individual retailers, while maximizing margin dollar creation in a sustainable way.
Qualifications and Skills:
-Strong business acumen
-Problem solving ability
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Experience in Hardlines Industry
-5+ years of experience in Product Management
-10+ years of experience in leadership role within Consumer Packaged Goods
-Solid understanding of Product P&Ls and principles
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or equivalent experience. MBA strongly preferred.
